About Mental Health Services

Welcome to Mental Health Services. Our professional staff members work with students to resolve personal and interpersonal difficulties, many of which can affect their academic experience. These include conflicts with or worry about friends or family, concerns about eating or drinking patterns, and feelings of anxiety and depression. Although some concerns are more frequent than others, students' experiences are as varied as the students themselves. Staff members help each person figure out her or his own situation. Services include individual, group, and couples counseling, crisis counseling, and referrals.

Whether you have already made an appointment or are just thinking about it, you might want to know the answers to the questions most students ask before their first visit:

Four Things to Know Before Your First Appointment:

  1. Mental Health Services are available to help in urgent situations seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Same day appointments are available for students experiencing a crisis. More info
  2. First "intake" counseling appointments are generally available within a week of your call. The waiting period for an intake appointment increases during the latter half of each semester. In this appointment, you may discuss your concerns with a counselor and explore options for next steps. Your counselor will help you connect with ongoing support on or off campus.
  3. In the interest of best serving students during periods of peak demand, students wishing to be evaluated for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) may only schedule assessments until November 1 for the Fall semester and April 1 for the Spring semester.
  4. Your conversations with our staff members are confidential. See "Rights and Responsibilities" and "HIPAA Information" for more information.
