Project CHEERS (Creatively Helping to Establish and Ensure an Educated and Responsible Society) to the Designated Driver is sponsored by the MO Department of Transportation's Division of Highway Safety and promoted at Washington University by theStudent Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) .
A CHEERS designated driver is someone who consumes no alcohol at all—not even one drink. Participating bars, restaurants, and nightclubs offer free non-alcoholic drinks to each designated driver in a group of two or more. Nearly 200 Missouri establishments participate in the program as a way of saying thanks to designated drivers for caring for their friends and community.
You can learn more about the project from the CHEERS official website, including how to find participating establishments near you.
